Mardi Gras, Martes de Carnaval, Fat Tuesday

Mardi Gras, Martes de Carnaval, Fat Tuesday

Celebration that precedes Lent Christian meditation

One of the most important times of the Catholic calendar is: Lent.  Beginning on Ash Wednesday, Catholics begin to prepare for the Easter celebration with prayers, small sacrifices of our favorite things , and personal reflection.  This is also the time of year when Catholics refrain from eating meat on Fridays, dating back to ancient times when lack of cooling methods, Christians had to eat all products that could not be consumed during Lent. On this pretext, many localities organized the preceding Ash Wednesday, a popular holiday called "Carnival" in those who consumed all the products will be destroyed during Lent. ”Carne Vai”, the carnival.

Another name for Carnival is " Mardi Gras "
Mardi Gras literally means " Fat Tuesday " and takes its name from the habit of walking a goose ( goose ) Fat in the streets of the city prior to Ash Wednesday , the beginning of Lent Tuesdays.

 Shrove Tuesday is the last day before the Catholic Lent in preparation for Easter. The "Lent" begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Palm Sunday.  The word " shrove " comes from " shrive " which means "confess" . Going to confession is an unofficial Catholics who practice before starting the 40-day spiritual journey of Lent.

Other international Mardi Gras names are: Mardi Gras in Mexico , Fastan in Sweden, in Italy Martedi Grasso , J'Ouvert in Trinidad and Carnival in Germany.

The carnival season runs from the Feast of the Epiphany, January 6 , through Tuesday, which in English is known as "Fat Tuesday" because since the 1800s all the butter in the house used to be used to prepare the banquet of Tuesday .

 Like many holidays we celebrate today , the festivities include evidence of pagan tradition. Celebrations and masquerade balls , which are an important part of Carnival celebrations today , were also part of the ancient Roman holiday Saturnalia and Lupercalia

The idea of parades, where drinks , laughs, and gives license to other worldly pleasures , is to satiate the desires of the flesh before the abstinence of Lent.

The festival has over seven rules calling to scream, dance , go to the nine parades , dressing ( or undressing) to " freely " , bring cash to the festival, and play responsibly.

No Fat Tuesday would not purple, gold and green beads, but how those colors become a symbol of the party? The International Business Times reports that the first King of Carnival day in 1872 selected the colors based on their associated meaning and people thought it fit threw meaning .
Purple = Justice
Gold = Power
Green = Faith

 There are four main styles to celebrate Mardi Gras around the world, originated in pagan fertility rites , whose roots go back to the custom of the feast offered to the Egyptian god Osiris, to mark the retirement of the river Nile

Carnivals peaked with Roman Bacchanalia and Saturnalia, which were controlled during the Middle Ages by the Catholic Church , a period in which the carnival reached its present form , closer to a festival

The stress of dealing with unemployment

How a job loss affects  health

The stress of dealing with unemployment

Losing a job is a traumatic experience, whether the dismissal has been due to cuts or job performance.

  Losing the job suddenly,  makes you to experiment a whole range of emotions, the shock that suffers somebody  that lost a job  can be  comparable to the loss of a loved one.
 Many people experience a variety of symptoms including shock, confusion, anger, denial and depression.

The person who has lost his job can be under enormous pressure by various factors. The main concern is usually the danger of running out of resources by not having any income.

There are many people who unfortunately does not receive unemployment benefits or even a minimal help, this of course causes to have to tease out the little savings that were saved, and just because these savings and money goes so easy, nerves and worries about the situation is accentuated increasingly seeing that the everything is getting worse day by day and expectations of finding a job is slowly evaporating.

 Then, repeat this every day, month after month, they start to despair . And when they do not know to do with despair and anger, not know exactly who rebel against and demand what they want, it is then that begin to save this inner rustration, which sooner or later will become depression .

The feeling of being useless and have the moral on the ground, spend hours and days doing nothing, the impotence of going to hundreds of places looking for a job, send resumes to companies and do anything possible to get a job and  receive the typical "we'll get back to you"  or  "not the profile we are looking for" makes them to feel more bad.
Unemployment can soon become a nightmare for the sufferer and for those around him...his family.

Depression is repressed anger, often caused because although  having a degree, many years of experience and service, tireless desire to work and never give up overtime, they end up jobless, with heart problems and without pension.

Heart attacks are significantly more common (27 %) among the unemployed recently, regardless of the type of occupation they had.

And the effect is cumulative: the chances of having a heart attack increases 63 % among those who have lost four or more jobs .

CELEBRATE MOVEMBER

Pink ribbons are put away the final days of October

In November
another trademark cancer awareness symbol begins to grow—literally.

That’s because this month is considered “No-Shave November” and facial hair can be found everywhere.

Eventhough almost everybody knows what the pink ribbon campaign is for, many people doesn't know  that No-Shave November is a month long awareness campaign meant to bring attention to prostate cancer.

Movember (Mo is Aussie slang for moustache, and "November") is an annual, month-long event. This involves the growing of moustaches during the whole month of November to raise awareness of prostate cancer and other male cancer and associated charities.

The goal of Movember is to "change the face of men's health.

All this month long, you can expect to see all kind of moustaches everywhere

Since 2004, the Movember Foundation charity has used Movember to raise awareness and funds for men's health issues in Australia and New Zealand.

In 2007, the Foundation launched campaigns in: Canada (funds raised go to the Prostate Cancer Research Foundation of Canada)
Spain (FEFOC)
The United Kingdom (Prostate Cancer UK)
and the United States (the Prostate Cancer Foundation and the Livestrong Foundation)

A non-foundation Movember event has been held in the Cayman Islands by a "MOvember Committee" since 2006. The event has been sponsored by CML Offshore Recruitment and raises funds for the Cayman Islands Cancer Society

In 2008, the Movember Foundation started the event in the Republic of Ireland. The beneficiary in that country is Action Prostate Cancer, an initiative of the Irish Cancer Society
